"Right. They're gonna give us a fair trial, and then they're gonna kill us."
Rodimus Prime and Grimlock are mobbed by the Decepticon populace on Chaar (see part 1); they fight bravely, but are hopelessly outnumbered. Rodimus is beaten into unconsciousness, but just then a gigantic meteor approaches the planet. The Decepticons clear out, but instead of impacting on the planet, the meteor approaches Rodimus and Grimlock, picking them up with a pair of mechanical claws. In fact, it is actually a ship, piloted by Springer and Arcee.
Unfazed by this development, Cyclonus and the Sweeps depart for Thrull, having collected enough energon to retrieve their leader, Galvatron.
Meanwhile, Spike, Kup, and Ultra Magnus are being interrogated by the Quintessons. The Quintessons clearly know almost as much about Cybertron as the Autobots do; they seem reluctant to deal with Spike, however. The Quintessons, lacking knowledge about humans, are intrigued at how Spike will face death...
On a barren asteroid, Springer and Arcee land to tend to Rodimus. Arcee's instruments show that his life force is gone; in fact, he has entered the Matrix of Leadership. He learns through a series of bizzarre images that the Quintessons were, in fact, the Autobot kidnappers.
Back on Quintessa, the prisoners are being taken to their judgment. In desperation, they fight back, finally taking one of the Quintesson judges, Deliberata, as a hostage. The Quintessons sentence all of them to death, including Judge Deliberata.
On Thrull, the Sweeps discover Galvatron--angry for being disturbed, but otherwise functional. He bemoans the loss of his empire, but when Cyclonus presents himself and the Sweeps as Galvatron's "elite guard," Galvatron bursts into laughter. He shoots down each of the Sweeps, but Scourge is wiser; he acknowledges Galvatron's power. Galvatron destroys Thrull, and leads his Decepticons back to Chaar.
Rodimus Prime has arranged a rescue expedition to retrieve Spike and the Autobots from Quintessa. Having anticipated this, the Quintessons set a bomb to destroy their entire planet, escaping aboard their own ships. The Autobots depart, just as the planet explodes...
First Appearances: Broadside, appearing as an unnamed Autobot escape ship.
We learn the name of the Scuxxoids' race in this episode, and that, according to Swindle, "they'd sell out to anybody for the right price."
The name of the Quintessons' planet, Quintessa, is also referenced for the first time in this episode. In the script for the movie, as well as the Marvel comics adaptation, it was simply called Quintesson.
