"Grimlock's New Brain"

Transformers Future Episode #90

Written by Paul Davids

"You no act like Dinobot no more, Grimlock.  Me no like!"

On Cybertron, the Autobots prepare to activate their new master power generator, which will provide them with enough energy to power Cybertron indefinitely.  Unknown to them, two of Galvatron's agents--the Skuxxoid (see "Five Faces of Darkness" part 1) and Sleazardo (see "The Gambler")--have planted anti-electrons in the power core.  The anti-electron radiation begins affecting the Autobots adversely--Sky Lynx can no longer fly, Blaster can't broadcast messages, etc.

On the advice of Teletraan II, the Autobots begin the search for the power core in order to shut it down.  Grimlock, who has tagged along, breaks the electro-map needed to locate the power core, then runs off in a huff when Rodimus berates him.  With Kup not far behind, Grimlock stumbled upon the power core and rips some wires out with his teeth, causing an electrical backlash.  When the generator shuts down, Grimlock finds that he has gained vast intelligence.  He proceeds to determine the cause of the malfunctions, build a shuttle from scratch, and lead the Autobots to the head of Unicron, the source of the anti-electrons and an obvious next stop for Galvatron.

Galvatron sends Cyclonus and Scourge to drain the remaining anti-electrons from Unicron's brain while the Terrorcons stand guard.  When the Autobots arrive, the Terrorcons attack, at which point Grimlock runs off during the battle.  He creates Nosecone in order to bore a hole into Unicron's brain, quickly assembling four other robots, whom collectively he names the Technobots.  The Technobots enter the fray, but are forced to retreat after the Terrorcons combine into Abominus.  Grimlock explains that they, too, have the power to combine--into Computron.  Knowing that his own super intelligence is the only way for Computron to defeat Abominus, Grimlock transfers his intelligence to Computron and reverts to his original state.  The Decepticons flee, and the Autobots return to Cybertron to celebrate the reactivation of the power core--and Grimlock's return to normal.

First Appearances:  Chronologically, this would be the first appearance of the Technobots (Scattershot, Strafe, Afterburner, Lightspeed, and Nosecone) and the Terrorcons (Hun-Grrr, Rippersnapper,. Blot, Sinnertwin, Cutthroat).  This episode was aired after "Money is Everything," which also features the Technobots and Terrorcons.
