"Power Play!" Synopsis

"I wonder if we can utilize Earth fuel?  And how would we obtain it?"

Seeking both a new fuel source and a base of operations, the Decepticons attack and commandeer the Harrison nuclear power plant, dismantling it for its technology and constructing a new base high atop an Oregon mountain peak.  Meanwhile, Sparkplug manages to repair Bumblebee's broken fuel line (see issue #1); Bumblebee expresses his gratitude, to both humans for saving his life, and also explains about the Autobots' desperate need for fuel.  All Sparkplug has to offer is gasoline from his auto repair shop, but Bumblebee happily accepts the offer, taking Buster to the Ark to relay the message to Optimus Prime.

After Ravage reports to the Decepticons that the Autobots have forged an alliance with the humans, Megatron launches an assault to capture Sparkplug and force him to convert Earth fuel for the Decepticons' use.  Optimus and the Autobots arrive at Sparkplug's auto shop, but the Decepticons attack!  The following battle draws the attention of the local police, who are completely ineffective in containing the carnage created by the gigantic robots.  It's time to call in the U.S. Army!  Finally, the Decepticons locate and kidnap Sparkplug.  The Autobots are so low on energy they can barely stand, let alone make a rescue attempt...

First Appearances: No new characters, although we do get to see the new Earth modes for characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron for the first time.

Transfacts:

• Bumblebee explains that "Bumblebee" is actually a code-name.  We'll learn later that Transformer names cannot be pronounced by humans, in fact.

• One of Mirage's preferred hobbies includes retro-wing gliding.

• Megatron and Ravage cannot fly on their own, requiring one of the aerial Decepticons to transport them.
