ARCHITECT
ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON
FUNCTION: EXPLORATION, SABOTAGE
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS #33 (COVER)
"To emerge victorious, you must first
survive."
Profile: Ancient human legends tell
of a fabled Man of Iron who appeared on Earth some time during the twelfth
century. He was part of an exploration team from Cybertron who had
come to Earth to investigate the crash of the Ark some four million years
ago. Always at the Man of Iron's side was the Architect, his trusty
servant. The Architect created the ship in which they traveled to Earth,
and was responsible for navigating the ship. What was not known to
the Man of Iron was that the Architect was in fact a Decepticon agent, sent
by Straxus to find the Autobots slumbering aboard the Ark and destroy
them. The Architect had other plans. He enjoyed the new balance
of power on Cybertron and did not wish to see the leaders of the Autobot
and Decepticon armies return to the forefront. Instead, he sabotaged
the Man of Iron's ship, causing it to crash land on Earth. The Architect
later awakened, wandering medieval England, his systems badly damaged, until
he was encountered and nearly destroyed by a band of British knights. It
is said that the Architect's heavily-armored body inspired knights to adopt
similar suits of armor during the medieval age.
Abilities: The Architect
transforms into a Cybertronic mining tool, designed to be held by another
explorer during excavation. He has also adapted his transformed mode
to be utilized as a weapon, capable of emitting charged bursts of anti-protons
that can nullify electronic components on contact. In robot mode, he
is armed with a scrambler cannon that interrupts the flow of electricity
in a robot's circuitry.
Weaknesses: The Architect
is a formidable adversary against other Transformers, but he lacks offensive
capability against carbon-based opponents.
