GNAW-JAW
ALLEGIANCE: DECEPTICON
FUNCTION: AIR AND GROUND OPERATIONS
SUB-GROUP: HEADMASTER
HUMAN COMPONENT: BANAX
FIRST APPEARANCE: "THE REBIRTH" PART 1
"My bite is worse than my
bark!"
Profile: Gnaw-Jaw is a walking
contradiction. He behaves in the most polite and sophisticated manner in
robot mode, showing a surprising amount of courtesy and refinement for a
Decepticon. Once he transforms to gorilla mode, his demeanor completely
and inexplicably changes. He becomes the total opposite of his former
selfsavage, brutal, and animalistic. He switches back and forth
between modes, seemingly at random. He is as unpredictable as he is
uncontrollable, and his teammates have learned to give him a wide berth.
Gnaw-Jaw is binary-bonded to a Nebulan asylum escapee, Banax, who had
been committed to the Nebulos Ministry of Mental Health after a history of
bizarre behavior. Banax felt he was locked up unfairly, and joined
the Decepticon Headmasters immediately after escaping. He regrets teaming
up with Gnaw-Jaw, though, since he has enormous difficulty keeping up with
the Decepticon's multiple personalities.
Abilities: In stratotronic
jet mode, Gnaw-Jaw flies at 2800 mph, and is equipped with laser blasters
on the tip of each of his wings. As a gorilla, he is incredibly strong,
capable of tearing a car apart with his bare hands. His jaws can snap
a steel girder in half. In robot mode, Gnaw-Jaw carries a grenade launcher
and uses an absorbo-shield. Instead of deflecting energy bursts, his
shield can convert them into stored energy. If he absorbs enough energy,
he can even focus it and redirect it back at his opponents.
Weaknesses: Gnaw-Jaw and Banax
are possibly the most ill-suited pairing among the Decepticon Headmasters.
They dislike each other immensely, and Banax would rather function
on his own than transform into Gnaw-Jaw's head.
