HIGH GEAR ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT FUNCTION: INFANTRY FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS #10 "All it takes is all you've got." Profile:  High Gear is a young and enthusiastic soldier.  He was hand-picked by Optimus Prime for the team due to his never-say-die attitude.  He is utterly devoted to the Autobot cause, and will do anything for his teammates.  Unfortunately, High Gear lacks battlefield experience.  He's a poor shot with a laser weapon and not a very good driver in vehicle mode.  He also harbors some unrealistic expectations about the war with the Decepticons and what it will take to win.  He genuinely believes there is hope in reasoning with the Decepticons rather than fighting them, and given a choice between the two, he will almost always try to negotiate instead of fight. Abilities:  In van mode, High Gear can travel at 120 mph for up to 4000 miles.  When he transforms, he separates into two components—a robot mode as well as a mobile battle platform.  The platform is armed with a magnetic grenade launcher and a smoke cannon.  He can ride the platform into battle or can send it off on its own, controlling the platform remotely.  It has a range of up to 12 miles before it is no longer capable of receiving signals from High Gear. Weaknesses:  High Gear has trouble following orders.  He has allowed his enthusiasm to override his common sense on many occasions.
